Heating and Air Conditioning Parts and Labor Warranties

system warranties

Most heating and cooling manufacturers offer a 5-year or 10-year limited parts warranty.  Most require you to register your purchase within 60 or 90 days, depending on the manufacturer.  The 10-year manufacturer’s parts warranty is only valid on owner-occupied properties.  This warranty covers the cost of most parts and does not cover labor.  Your installing contractor usually offers some type of labor warranty on newly installed equipment.  Air Handlers Mechanical Services, Inc offers a one-year labor warranty.  What this means is, if within the first year, you have a problem with your new heating or air conditioning equipment, we will repair parts for that equipment at no charge to you.

After the first year, there is no labor warranty unless you choose to purchase an extended warranty.  After the first year, your manufacturer’s limited parts warranty is in effect for an additional 4 or 9 years, depending on if you registered your new equipment in the allotted time-frame.  Also, be aware that a heating and air conditioning manufacturer’s parts warranty for rental, investment or business property is usually 5 years.

The manufacturer’s warranty on heating and air conditioning products is a “limited warranty”, which means there are items and circumstances that are not covered under this warranty.  For more information on warranty coverages on heating and cooling equipment, give us a call.  We would be happy to email you more information.
