NEW AIR CONDITIONER CHESAPEAKE, VA
Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer

Air Handlers installs central air conditioning systems across Chesapeake and Hampton Roads as a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer. We do a load calculation before we recommend a system. No guessing. No matching-the-old-unit shortcuts.

How Air Handlers Approaches a New AC Installation

The assessment visit comes first. We measure your home, review insulation and window area, check duct condition, and calculate the actual cooling load before we recommend any equipment.

In Hampton Roads, we also account for the latent load, the humidity component of cooling, which is higher here than most inland Virginia markets and determines whether a system will actually keep your home comfortable, not just cool.

From the load calculation we recommend at least two equipment options, typically a standard efficiency and a higher efficiency model and explain the upfront cost difference and the projected energy savings difference so you can make an informed decision.

We do not recommend equipment based on margin or availability.

Installation follows Carrier Factory Authorized standards: refrigerant lines brazed and pressure-tested, electrical connections to code, condensate drain properly pitched and routed, outdoor unit on a level pad with correct clearances, and the system commissioned through a full operating cycle before we leave. The thermostat is configured and explained before the technician goes.

After installation, the Carrier equipment warranty is backed by our Factory Authorized Dealer status. If a warranty issue arises, you are not navigating it through a company that is not authorized by the manufacturer.

5 Reasons Chesapeake Homeowners Choose A New AC

  1. Your system is past ten to twelve years old in Hampton Roads conditions. Salt air and coastal humidity corrode condenser coil fins and refrigerant connections faster than manufacturer ratings predict. A system that should last fifteen years in a drier climate often reaches ten to twelve here before efficiency loss becomes significant enough to feel.

  2. You have had the same refrigerant leak repaired more than once. A recurring leak on an older system points to coil corrosion, not a one-time failure. Adding refrigerant without addressing the underlying condition produces a repeat call every season. At that point the repair cycle costs more than a replacement over the same period.

  3. Your home cools down but never feels comfortable. This is the most common complaint we hear from Chesapeake homeowners with aging systems. An AC that has lost efficiency to coil restriction — or an oversized replacement that short-cycles — drops the temperature without removing enough moisture. The thermostat reads 72 and the house still feels sticky. A properly sized new system handles both temperature and humidity. See our Hampton Roads climate guide - sizing for humidity

  4. Your summer energy bills have been trending up. Gradual efficiency loss does not announce itself the way a breakdown does. If your bills have been climbing over two to three summers without a change in how you use the system, the equipment is working harder than it should to deliver the same output.

  5. You want a system protected by a manufacturer-backed warranty. As a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, Air Handlers installs AC systems with manufacturer-backed warranty coverage tied to the authorized dealer who installs it — not every company installing Carrier equipment can offer the same protection

How to Know When Replacement Is the Right Answer

The general rule: if the repair cost on a system past twelve years in Hampton Roads conditions approaches fifteen to twenty percent of the replacement cost, replacement is usually the better financial decision.

But the specific failure matters more than the rule. A refrigerant leak on a twelve-year-old system with an otherwise clean coil and good electrical components may still be worth repairing. A compressor failure on the same system with a corroded coil is a replacement conversation.

We give you both numbers at every service call. If your system is in the repair-versus-replace window and you want an assessment without committing to either, call us. We will tell you what we find.

Questions and Answers About New AC Installs

Q: How do I know what size AC I need for my Chesapeake home?

A: From a load calculation. We measure the home and calculate the cooling load — square footage, ceiling height, insulation, windows, and Hampton Roads humidity. Matching the old unit's tonnage without calculating is one of the most common installation mistakes we see in this market.

Q: What makes Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer status matter for my installation?

A: Authorization requires manufacturer training, installation standards compliance, and customer satisfaction benchmarks. It is not a title any company can use — it has to be earned and maintained. The practical difference: the equipment warranty is backed by Carrier's authorization of the installing dealer, not just the dealer's word.

Q: How long does central AC installation take?

A: Most single-system residential installations are completed in one day. Installations involving new ductwork or a full system replacement including the air handler can run into a second day.
